On March 21, University UMC’s Administrative Board voted to proceed with and fund Phase II of the Vital Church Initiative (VCI). Subsequently, the VCI team accelerated preparations to lead our congregation in the coming year as it studies current programs and considers ways in which UUMC can remain a vital and vibrant church. This spring will bring an intense church self-study, including extensive data gathering, a May sermon series, prayer team meetings and a number of congregational input sessions. Pastor Jennie Browne will be fully involved throughout her time here.
After working this summer with background matters, the VCI team will propose programs this fall that explain their findings, efforts and recommendations. Our new pastor, Rev. William Bills, who began working with the team in a limited way in March, will become intricately involved when he becomes the pastor at University UMC July 1.
Leading the study and team are co-chairs Marilyn Rothert and Betsy Rueckert. Persons interested in UUMC’s process may talk with them at any time and also with other team members: Dan Cummings, Susan Curtis, Karin Dillon, Rebecca Berry Jost, Andy Kilpatrick and Pete Marvin. Pastors Jennie Browne and Leslee Fritz are available for chats, also.
